"Yoshiwara" was a famous yukaku (red-light district) in Edo.
Late Edo period yomihon author. Also known as Kyokutei Bakin. Studied under Santo Kyoden (1761-1816). Wrote "Nanso Satomi Hakkenden" (Eight Dogs of Satomi). His works are grand-scale work that incorporates history and legends and preaches good and evil.
